"Our mission is to promote Valdez, endless recreation and fitness as well as bringing the people together to organize and participate in this amazing adventure race right here in our back yard. This race will portray Valdez as the destination for outdoor activities in all seasons."

The Valdez Summit 2 Sound Challenge is the brainchild of Magdalena McCay and Meg Weaver. During the winter of 2010-2011 they organized a small group of interested Valdezeans to help create Valdez's first Adventure Race!

The race begins in the legendary ski arena Thompson Pass , winds down through the historic Keystone Canyon, and ends in the Port of Valdez. This course is loosely based upon the original route taken by gold prospectors, military, traders and other adventurers since the late 1800's.

Part adventure, part scenic beauty; this race pays homage to the history and beauty of the Valdez area. Don't be too distracted by the natural wonders because the course will be demanding enough to push even the best adventurer!

The 2012 Race will consist of 4 Legs: Skiing/Boarding or Cross Country Skiing, Road Biking, Sea Kayaking, and Running.
